for the last few days we've basically been unable to actually get anything done until after midnight because for the first 8 hours after waking up we're so brain foggy and fatigued we end up having to lay down and then usually end up just falling asleep again.
I don't know why we start to feel a bit better and actually able to do some things for a few hours after midnight but it means we only really get a few hours to do any of the things we want or need to do, and that's if stuff like executive dysfunction doesn't get in the way.
but anyway we have to wake up 4 hours early tomorrow to go outside which is innevitably going to make us feel even worse afterwards, and I'm dreading it but given that it's a dentist appointment we should have had a month ago, and our teeth are absolutely fucked, we can't really afford to postpone it any longer
#personal#thoughts#🍬 post#vent post#I'm also dreading what they're going to recommend in terms of treatment#because two of the teeth have cavities right on the gumline and I get the feeling they'll need to be removed#I can't really see any way to fix them properly at this point especially when they've already had fillings for years#and those fillings have had to be replaced in the past because parts of the tooth broke off and shit like that#plus there are other teeth that are really painful and sensitive and it's just a nightmare all round#last time we went the dentist fixed a broken tooth and it's been significantly more painful ever since#our teeth are absolutely fucked and have been for as long as any of us can remember

The Importance of Fluoride for Strong, Healthy Teeth
Fluoride, a naturally occurring mineral, has been a cornerstone of dental health for decades. Its ability to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent cavities has made it an essential component of toothpaste, mouthwash, and even drinking water.
How Fluoride Works
Strengthening Tooth Enamel: Fluoride interacts with the hydroxyapatite in tooth enamel, transforming it into a more resistant form called fluorapatite. This stronger enamel is better equipped to withstand acid attacks from bacteria and food particles.
Reversing Early Tooth Decay: In the early stages of tooth decay, fluoride can help repair damaged enamel. By replacing lost minerals, fluoride can reverse the decay process.
The Benefits of Fluoride
Cavity Prevention: Fluoride is highly effective in preventing tooth decay, a common dental problem that can lead to pain, infection, and tooth loss.
Improved Oral Health: Regular exposure to fluoride can significantly improve overall oral health by strengthening teeth and reducing the risk of gum disease.
Cost-Effective: Fluoride treatments are relatively inexpensive and can save you money on future dental procedures.
Sources of Fluoride
Fluoridated Water: Many communities add fluoride to their drinking water to ensure that everyone has access to its benefits.
Fluoride Toothpaste: Brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste twice a day is essential for maintaining good oral health.
Fluoride Mouthwash: Rinsing with fluoride mouthwash can provide additional protection.
Professional Fluoride Treatments: Dentists can apply fluoride treatments to your teeth during regular check-ups.
Tips for Optimal Fluoride Use
Spit, Don't Swish: After brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste, spit out the excess but don't rinse your mouth with water. This allows the fluoride to remain on your teeth and continue working.
Avoid Overconsumption: While fluoride is beneficial, excessive intake can lead to fluorosis, a condition that causes white spots on the teeth.
Consult Your Dentist: Your dentist can provide personalized advice on the appropriate amount of fluoride for your specific needs.
By incorporating fluoride into your oral health routine, you can significantly reduce your risk of tooth decay and maintain a healthy, beautiful smile. Remember, a little fluoride goes a long way in keeping your teeth strong and healthy.

How are cavities formed in teeth?
Cavities in teeth, often known as dental caries, are among the most common oral health disorders worldwide. They are the result of the gradual erosion of tooth enamel, the hard outer surface of your teeth. Understanding how cavities form may help you avoid them and preserve good tooth health. In this blog, we will look at the process of cavity formation, the factors that contribute to it, and how to avoid them.
What Are Cavities?
Cavities are irreparable damage to your teeth that can leave microscopic cracks in the enamel. If left untreated, cavities can progress further into the tooth, affecting the dentin and pulp and potentially causing discomfort, infection, and tooth loss.
How Do Cavities Form?
When humans consume sugar and carbohydrate-rich foods and beverages, these bacteria feed on the sugars, producing acids as by products. These acids, together with other bacterial activity, form a sticky layer on the teeth known as plaque.
Plaque sticks to the surface of the teeth and reacts with food particles, releasing more acid. This acid gradually erodes the enamel, leading to the formation of cavities.
Stage 1: Plaque Formation
Stage 2: Acid Attack
Stage 3: Enamel Decay
Stage 4: Dentin and Pulp Involvement
What Causes Cavities in Teeth?
Consuming sugary and starchy foods
Inconsistent brushing and flossing
A lack of saliva
Drinks such as soda, fruit juice, and alcohol
How to Prevent Cavities in Teeth?
Brush and floss regularly
Use fluoride
Limit sugary and acidic foods
Drink plenty of water
Regular dental checkups
Consider dental sealants
Treatments for Cavities in Teeth
Fluoride Treatment
Fillings
Crowns
Root canals
Extractions
Conclusion
Cavities in teeth form when bacteria in the mouth react with sugars and carbohydrates, producing acids that erode tooth enamel. If neglected, this process could eventually result in significant tooth damage. However, by practicing good dental hygiene, reducing sugary and acidic foods, and visiting the dentist on a regular basis, you may effectively prevent cavities and keep your smile healthy.
